Safe Lawn is Corn Gluten
Meal
Corn Gluten Meal is a product of the corn milling industry. It has been used for years as a feed ingredient and in many pet foods. Recently, corn gluten meal was found to be an excellent all natural and organic weed and feed product for lawns and gardens.
Weed Control
Researchers at Iowa State have shown Corn Gluten Meal to have preemergence
weed control properties. Through persistent use, Safe Lawn will control
the emergence of crabgrass, clover, foxtail, dandelions, perslane, lamb's
quarter, creeping bentgrass, smart weed, redroot pigweed, banyardgrass,
and Bermudagrass. In trials, Corn Gluten Meal reduced crabgrass by 91
percent over a three year period. However, there is no post emergence
weed control with Safe Lawn or any Corn Gluten Meal product, therefore
weeds already established will not be controlled.
Fertilizer
Safe Lawn contains 9 percent nitrogen. Safe Lawn is all natural, making
it an excellent slow releasing source of nitrogen. Using the recommended
application rate Safe Lawn will provide your lawn with 4.50 pounds of
nitrogen per 2500 square feet. Being all natural, Safe Lawn is slow
releasing and will feed your lawn over a long period of time.
